Hmmm… The Master Foster Parent

The topic of a certain morning talk show was the power of love, bringing life back to children in the foster care system. According to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS), 408,425 children were in foster care on September 30, 2010. As I listened to the guests account their experiences in providing basic needs of children not their own, my thoughts kept wandering to our relationship with God. Hmmm… He is the master foster parent, offering the best He has to those He loves, including adoption and eternity with Him . We choose whether to accept or reject Him. (John 3:16, Ephesians 1:4-5)

  2. Beautiful illustration. So true. The term ‘adoption’ in Scripture always depicts the adopted as being afforded every privilege as the natural children. What an amazing picture of God’s love for a people who were not a people… but are now the people of God! (1 Peter 2:10) Thanks for these great words and God bless.

  3. I have spent a great deal of time studying God’s love recently. Why is it so hard for us to understand that, just like those who offer their love in the Foster Care System, God’s love is unconditional? We did nothing to deserve it. It’s simply there for us. What an Awesome God we serve.
