Hmmm… Being Well Grounded

One of my favorite movies is The Lord of the Rings Trilogy based on the three-volume book of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien. I usually watch this three-volume set when in need of a mental health day. During one scene two Hobbits, Frodo and Sam, begin the journey of returning the one ring to Mordor when Sam realizes his next step will take him the furthest from home he has ever been. Frodo encourages him by quoting his uncle Bilbo, “It’s a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to. “We embark on many adventures in our lives, each one beginning with a decision based on our footing. It is not always easy to know which way is up, and the only way to know which way is down is to remain calm and stable with a realistic understanding of what we believe and why.  Our Creator desires that for us, the ability to stand firm in our beliefs. However, this is only possible when we plant our feet on the firm foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. How well is your faith grounded? (Isaiah 28:16, Isaiah 52:7, Ephesians 6:10-18)

  1. Hi Karin, First, I want to say thank you for stopping by to visit ‘On Faith and Writing.’ It is always nice to meet a new sister in Christ. Second, I want to say I love Lord of the Rings and have also done a post about lessons I have learned from the movie. I will have to come back and read your thoughs when I am not falling asleep over my keyboard. I hope that we will be able to visit often with each other.

    • Thanks Drusilla. I hope you were able to get a good night’s sleep. Imprints of the keyboard on your face would not look cool first thing in the morning or at any time. 🙂 Thanks for popping in. When you can stay a little longer, I hope you enjoy what you find here. It is encouraging to find so many people willing to share their faith and lessons learned in their relationship with Christ. Who would have thought the advances in technology would be an avenue to tell so many Christ’s story. Have a great day!
