Hmmm… Ready for the Hot Tub?

A tea bag being removed from a cup of tea

It is interesting the little things you find in Facebook posts; those seemingly insignificant words that cause one to stop and say hmmm. The latest one I read today compared people to tea bags; in order to see how strong they are, they must be put in hot water. Many times, I have watched my sister make a cup of tea dunking the tea bag several times until the water is infused with the desired flavor and aroma. Each time, the tea bag must jump into the hot tub to accomplish what it was created to do.  Jumping in to the hot tub of adversity is not something I look forward to, as swirling around in scorching turbulence makes my head spin with confusion and generates sweat. I hate confusion and absolutely hate to sweat, yet I know when the whirl settles and the temperature cools, the strength I have gained will help me be ready for whatever troubles come my way. (James 1:2-4) Anybody ready for the hot tub?

  1. I’ve also heard another application of the tea bag in hot water.

Just as the longer the tea bag is immersed in the water, the stronger the tea becomes, so the longer we are immersed in the Word and prayer, the stronger we become.

  2. Hi Karen, why do you think people say one thing but mean another, Jesus never did, He said we would have trouble, He did not say He would cause it, God tells us He doesn’t as you can see in the Scriptures below but yes He knows we will have hardship and He strenghens us in it. I will post a message today about this, sadly many have and do believe a lie and say God causes our suffering for our good, this is not true we suffer because we live in a fallen world, and because of our sin and others sin but if we do not let it cause us to turn away from the Lord and instead we turn to Him for help, He heals and restores us and so we are stronger in our faith not because of the suffering but because we cried out to Him.

When you read James in context we rejoice not for the suffering but because it caused us to seek for God’s wisdom instead of trusting in our own or others, that is of course if we are humble enough, many think they know it all! how do we know the differance, Scriptuers will confirm the Truth but we show by our Love for God and others that we have the Truth.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

    • Is it because they do not KNOW who God is, His character and qualities? How could they and still claim He is the cause of their difficulties? Do they feel the need to point the blame instead of taking responsibility for their choices?

Thank you Anne for the thought provoking comment and the additional scripture pointing to Truth.
      Keep the Faith!
