Hmmm… Been Listening – A Stumbling Block or Stepping-Stone

Life is not easy. Anyone who tells you his life is a bed of roses without problems, worries, or struggles is a liar, for even roses have thorns. Each life is a road with a series of stones, bumps, and boulders that catch our footing causing us to stumble. In the previous post, I shared links to a few writers sharing their thoughts on adversity. Since that time, more thoughts were shared and while reading them I listened and came to this conclusion, the only difference between a stumbling block and a stepping-stone is how we use it. In the tripping and possibly falling, we can choose to lay with our face in the dirt, feeling sorry for ourselves claiming all is lost, or getting up, brushing ourselves off while stepping on the stone in an effort to move forward. It is not the stumbling nor what was tripped over that is important, but our attitude in response to it and whether we believe the promises our Creator gives. (Proverbs 12:21, 2 Corinthians 4:17) And, let us not forget, what we consider a stumbling block is a stepping-stone in God’s eyes. (Isaiah 55:9, Romans 8:28)

  1. Second Truth Sis is God does not bring on us suffering and hardship to mould and shape us or does He tempt us with evil or does He willingly allow it, it is part of living in a fallen world, our sins and others and also Satan’s testing of us as he seeks to claim ownership.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

But as you Sis and others have shared, God does work everything for good in our lives, when we suffer hardship, if our hearts are not eternally hard we will seek God and come to repentance, if we don’t there is no hope, as you said Sis if we reject The Rock, Jesus Christ there is no other way.

When we go through hardship and suffering God feels our pain but knows they will bring us to repentance and if we are already in Christ Jesus as we continue to affirm our Trust and confidence in Him we are uplifted and the Devil flees because we are close to God and he cannot stand our smell, we have the good aroma of Love and he only welcomes evil not good.

God tells us He will never leave us or can we spiritually die if we are His child who He predestined by His foreknowledge of our hearts repentance to be conformed into the image of His Son. it is not up to us, we are in His Loving hands as we choose good by the prompting of the Holy Spirit, He empowers us to do it.

Third Truth is …A rose has thorns to protect it, Jesus is our protection He wore the crown of thorns for us. so what does He protect us from as we know Paul and the other first fruits suffered physically, He protects us from spiritual death, yes we will have trouble in this world but we will not fall away by rejecting Jesus, unless it was our destiny never to really accept the free gift of Salvation and this will be our choice not God’s will.

Thanks for letting me share from my heart Sis – Christian Love Anne.

      • Yes Sis that is why we need to Trust in what Jesus our only Teacher tells us and not man’s understanding or we will be deceived and our perception will be in error.

Did you know when it gets really cold here in Queensland my toes turn purple 😀

Just thought I would let you know Annie

  2. Hi Sis a lot to think about with this message very good Scripture used which is needed to confirm what the Lord is teaching us.

First we are not Old Testerment Saints, in Christ Jesus we have been Born again and have the mind of Christ, Pentecost has come and we will know the things of God that is needed.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that Love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.(KJV)

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)

I like to think of the Housetops as our Blogs, I will continue on the next Box, I’m now taking a copy of all our comments just in case they disapear again.

    Christian Love Anne

    • Thank you, Anne. The housetops, yes others will use and are using the blogging forum to poison the hearts and minds of others, but God is using it through those like us to provide the antidote.
      Keep the Faith!

    • Thank you. I must confess, the listening has not always been easy, but regular devotions including reading blogs of other believers helps my ears to be more sensitive to His voice. Keep the Faith!

      • I am encouraged to hear that you include believers’ blogs as part of your devotions. Sometimes God does speak through imperfect vessels! God bless you abundantly–have a wonderful Easter Week.
