Hmmm… Amazing Creator

The sun sinks lower along the hillside revealing the frost kissed brilliance of maple and ash. Our Creator is amazing!

Hmmm… All is not Lost

There is something soulful about this photo. The seemingly abandoned vessel rusting in the elements points its nose to the sea in an expression of hope, all is not lost.

Hmmm… False Hope

Can anyone give me a definition of false hope?

My recent reading of The First Phone Call from Heaven, by author Mitch Albom, where a character asks what is false about hope prompts this question. I don’t believe there is such a thing as false hope but instead the unreliability of the subject we place our expectations.

What do you think?

Hmmm… Weathered Skin, A Violin and Joy

Tucked away somewhere in our family home is a black and white sketch that frequents my subconscious. An elderly disheveled looking man with weathered face and hands contentedly draws the bow across the violin strings. My thoughts are not taken to where he might be standing or for whom he is playing, but the look of joy on his face as the voices of cords and wood filter into the air. That expression brings to mind a quote by Sarah Young from her devotional book, Jesus Calling,

When you let others’ expectations drive you, you scatter your energy to the winds.

This aged gentleman is not concerned about others’ enjoyment of his performance, but the pure pleasure of producing a joyful sound.

I must find this sketch for my office wall as a reminder that joy is found within oneself not from outside circumstances.

Hmmm… Proclaim His Glory

Canadian geese gracefully waddling

Wild turkey excitedly scratching

Red-bellied robins determinedly pecking

Budded branches wakefully stretching

Baby blue skies warmly shining

Excitedly proclaim the glory of their Creator

(Genesis 1, Psalm 66:4)

Hmmm… No Night There

Keep thinking of this very old hymn and decided to share. So happy Mom and Dad no longer need to deal with tears, pain, fear and the dark of night. (Revelation 21)

No Night There | words John R. Clements 1899; music Hart P. Danks

In the land of fadeless day
Lies the city foursquare;
It shall never pass away,
And there is no night there.

Refrain:
God shall wipe away all tears,
There’s no death, no pain, nor fears,
And they count not time by years,
For there is no night there.

All the gates of pearl are made,
In the city foursquare;
All the streets with gold are laid,
And there is no night there.

Refrain:
God shall wipe away all tears,
There’s no death, no pain, nor fears,
And they count not time by years,
For there is no night there.

All the gates shall never close
To the city foursquare;
There life’s crystal river flows,
And there is no night there.

Refrain:
God shall wipe away all tears,
There’s no death, no pain, nor fears,
And they count not time by years,
For there is no night there.

There they need no sunshine bright,
In that city foursquare;
For the Lamb is all the light,
And there is no night there.

Hmmm… Devil Dog, Lovely and Me; My Orders are Complete

Well Devil Dog and Lovely, my orders are complete as you are in heaven sitting with Jesus and those who went before. Your journey of life has only just begun. So, the tears your family and friends shed are not for you but for those who remain. Will they all see you again one day? Oh, I hope so! What a never-ending family picnic that will be! (Isaiah 25:61 Corinthians 15:1-4, John 3:16)
